My trip started with booking a bus from Phnom Penh to Sihanoukville. I stayed one night there and took the first ferry on the next morning to Koh Rong Samloem. On the way to the ferry it was totally over-crowded. But I didnt mind, because I didn’t have much luggage with me. The speed boat to the island was comfortable and the view amazing. After having one stopover on another island, I got off the speed boat and right into a second boat, which brought me to my hostel. My accommodation was “just around the corner” from the speed ferry point, so it took me just a few more minutes to get there. On Koh Rong Sanloem, the beach was really nice and the forest was interesting as well. It is a good place to relax or to party if you book the right hostel. Kayaking with an amazing view is guaranteed! I would not recommend to stay for weeks on the island because there is not much to do. The island is pretty small and you can walk from one side to the other in short time. The people are really friendly and try their best to meet your expectations. In some areas on the island you have to know that the water and the electricity will be turned off at night time, so prepare yourself! Mosquitos are a pest and even when you have a mosquito net on your bed, those little animals find their way to you if they want to. You can spend a great time on the island, just enjoy the nature and the people. On my way back to Phnom Penh, I needed one whole day. From my hostel to the first boat, to the second boat then to the bus takes a lot of time, but I still recommend to visit Koh Rong Sanloem.
