November of 2016, I have accepted the challenge of traveling solo in two of the most visited countries in South East Asia—Thailand and Cambodia. At first I was very hesitant to take such trip but thankfully, I was able to pull it off and made a lot of good memories. My main country of destination was Thailand but one of my friends told me that I should do side trip to Siem Reap, Cambodia and so I did! I was torn between going by air or land. I did a lot of research, read various blogs, asked several friends who did the same tour. In the end, I’ve decided to go by bus. I have booked my one-way ride Siem Reap – Bangkok online via BookMeBus website. I was lucky back then because there was an ongoing promotion for online booking so I got 10% off from the original price! The website itself is so easy to use and understand and the best part about it is that there are customer supports on standby whom you can chat anytime you have problem with your bookings or any general inquiries. There are three things which make your travel meaningful… people, places and events. I booked a temple tour for a day and I was mesmerized by the places I have seen. The Angkor Wat which is the main temple was my favorite. Not only it’s the biggest but the story behind it is really intriguing. Thanks to my tour guide who explained to me the background of the place. I just forgot his name and contact number but I really admire his passion and enthusiasm. Cambodians whom I met from the hotel staff, to my Tuk Tuk driver and street vendors are very hospitable and warm. A trait I am so familiar with since Filipinos (Philippines) are also like that. Even though they don’t speak English that much, they are so eager to help with directions and recommendations you need. It was as if I was at home. Lastly, night life in Pub Street is epic! I am not really a party person. I seldom go to bars and social gatherings with loud music but for the experience I checked the place and it was great! From local restaurants and bars, street foods and performers… these things will keep you busy all night long. My stay in Cambodia was one of the best trips ever! It was short yet sweet. That’s why I have decided to come back on August 2017 for my month-long birthday travel around South-East Asia. I know there are still thousands of things to do and visit in this magnificent country and I am so looking forward to experiencing all those things! Thank you BookMeBus for having such a lovely service!
